Our state-of-the-art OMSAR Rescue Boat is a vital asset for marine search and rescue operations, built to handle challenging conditions with precision and efficiency. Constructed by Hike Metal, Hull #225, this Guardian Class Vessel is designed to provide exceptional performance, maneuverability, endurance, and reliability.

Vessel Specifications

Length: 34 feet (10.37 meters), with an overall length (LOA) of 38 feet.

Width: 11 feet (3.36 meters), ensuring greater stability in challenging conditions. 

Draught: 2 feet 3 inches (0.65 meters).

Engines: 2 x Volvo Penta D6 340hp engines (680 total horsepower).

Propulsion System: DPI Sterndrives with counter-rotating propellers.

Electronic Vessel Control: Steering wheel, throttle, joystick, and autopilot integration.

Fuel Capacity: Over 1000 liters, offering extended operational range.

Crew Capacity: Four dedicated workstations plus a fifth jump seat for flexibility.

Operational Workstations

The vessel features four dedicated workstations, each designed to support mission-critical operations and ensure seamless coordination during search and rescue missions. Each workstation is able to duplicate the functions of the other stations

The NAV station provides the crew with real-time situational awareness for collision avoidance and search coordination. Key equipment includes:

Raymarine Axiom XL 22” Multi-Function Display (MFD)with remote keypad.

Raymarine AIS 5000: Vessel tracking and positioning.The AIS 5000 is located at the helm station, AIS data can be displayed at each of the workstations as requied.

FLIR Thermal Night Vision Camera: Enhanced visibility in darkness and low-light conditions. While better controlled from the nav station, the camera display can be shown on each workstation as required.

Radar System (Cyclone): Featuring CHIRP technology, Doppler, and Automatic RADAR Plotting Aid (ARPA) to track up to 100 simultaneous targets.

Augmented Reality Overlay: Providing visual integration of navigational data.

Depth Sounder and Sonar: High-definition sonar with down and side scan capability.

Navigation Charts and Aids: Covers Lake Ontario and surrounding areas for precise route planning.

AIS System: Tracksand identifies vessels for collision avoidance and search coordination. Can track up to 200 targets simultaneously.

The HELM station serves as the command center for vessel operation and maneuvering. Key features include:

9” Raymarine Axiom Pro 2 Display: Engine data, speed, navigation and search pattern inputs.

Volvo Penta 7” Engine Management Display: Tracks engine performance speed and data.

Autopilot Controller: Steer-to-track, steer-to-bearing, and power steer functions.

Throttle and Steering Wheel: Integrated electronic and joystick control for smooth vessel operation.

Roof-Mounted Spotlight (Remotely Operated): Provides powerful illumination for night operations. The spotlights can be operated remotely from anywhere.

The CREW station provides monitoring and operational support during missions. Key features include:

12” Raymarine Axiom Pro 2 Display: Access to navigation, vessel status, and search patterns.

Surveillance Monitors: Live feeds from onboard cameras, including FLIR thermal imaging.

Engine and Systems Monitoring: Fuel levels, electrical systems, and propulsion performance.

ICOM Commandmics: Radio control for internal and external communication. Not specific to the crew station, each workstation has command mic’s for each vhf radio, any workstation can communicate over the radio.

The COMMS station facilitates effective communication across all workstations and with external agencies. Key features include:

2 x ICOM M605 VHF Base Units with Microphones.

6 x ICOM Commandmics (distributed across stations). Hard-wired to the M605’s.

1 x Cellular Base Station (Trunk Radio) With integrated private push-to-talk (PTT).

Firecom Wireless Intercom System with headsets for each crew member,

AIS (Automatic Identification System): Supports collision avoidance and coordinated search efforts, not specific to the comms station.

Integrated Firecom Headset System: Provides hands-free communication with a 1000’ up to 1600 ft range.

Safety and Rescue Equipment

 6-Person Life Raft: With automatic deployment system.

 Personal Flotation Devices (PFDs), Survival Suits, and Sea Anchor Fire Suppression System: Engine compartment automatic fire suppression.

 Dewatering Pump: Includes hoses and nozzles.

 Signaling Devices: Various flares and personal strobe lights for emergency visibility Personal Locator Beacons (PLBs) for all crew members

 Boarding Platform: Ensuring safe water rescues and personnel transfers.
